Natural & fibre-cement slate
Natural slate varies in tone and texture. Fibre-cement slate offers a more uniform finish. We confirm the exact source, product, size and fixing specification before you choose.
- Natural slate: compare the actual slate sample and source.
- Fibre-cement slate: confirm the manufacturer’s colour and edge detail.
- For repairs, match the size, thickness and roof detail as well as the shade.

Flat roof systems
Choose the system around the roof deck, drainage and use. EPDM rubber, felt and GRP fibreglass have different surface textures and installation details.
- EPDM rubber: typically a black membrane, as illustrated.
- Torch-on felt: mineral-surfaced finishes depend on the selected cap sheet.
- GRP fibreglass: agree the topcoat colour and whether the specification allows foot traffic.

Roofline & fascia finishes
Coordinate fascias, soffits and guttering with your windows and roof. White and woodgrain examples are shown below; ask about black, anthracite and other finishes when we discuss the specification.
- Compare a physical sample with the window frames and brickwork.
- Confirm the exact manufacturer, finish and matching trims in the quote.
- Agree ventilation and gutter details as well as appearance.

Choosing the right roof finish
Match more than the colour
For repairs, the size, profile and fixing details matter too. Send a clear photograph taken safely from ground level, plus any known tile markings or details from an earlier quote.
Check the roof specification
A covering must suit the roof pitch, structure and exposure. We also discuss ventilation, insulation, access and any planning requirements before a replacement roof is agreed.
Confirm the physical sample
Ask to compare the selected product with your walls and windows. Your quotation should name the manufacturer, range and colour, with product warranty terms where applicable.
